I. THE ORAL EXAM IS HERE: and you are not ready

The Spanish Leaving Cert is finally on the horizon! Which mean you are probably starting to freak out. You were happy and comfy last year thinking, somehow, you would have this when the time came. But the time is upon us and you are not ready. Not even a little.

But fear not! There is indeed an easy way to score big marks on the Leaving Cert! A way to secure points early in the year and allow you to go to the exam feeling a bit more confident in your chances.

The trick is…*Drumroll please*…to master the Role-Plays!

Yes, I know, I know. The oral is scary, you have an accent, you hate speaking and you always draw a blank. The solution to that is good old fashion practice (

I hate to break it to you but Spanish is a skill, not a subject. Trying to ace the Spanish Leaving Cert without practice is like trying to run a marathon without training months in advance)

II. THE GLORIOUS ROLE-PLAYS FILE

In order to help you, I have created a complete set of Role-Plays scenarios along with their corresponding answers. They are in glorious colours with pretty pictures, which, of course, makes everything better. I use these all the time with my students. Here is how:

1. Each role play has two slides, on the first you have the examiner’s questions in Spanish and the key to your answer in English. Use first the one with empty answers and write your own Spanish answer.
2. Then proceed to the second slide, check agains my own answer in Spanish and correct your mistakes
3. You don’t have to answer exactly what I did, but it is important that you get both the verbal tenses an the key words right.
4. Practice
5. Practice
6. And then…you guessed it! Practice once again
7. Enjoy! Spanish is a gorgeous language, even if your only goal is to pass the exam, you can always use these sentences to shout them randomly at your friends when you want impress them
