Spanish Grinds
ALRIGHT, I GOT THE BOOK AND NOW…WHAT?
We have all been there: You have an exam, you sit down, open the books, take out your notes, get ready to study, and you feel completely lost.
The truth is, you have no idea how to prepare for the Spanish Leaving Cert.
You want to do well but even just looking at the exam structure makes you feel anxious. There are supposed to be a ton of resources out there but you don’t seem to be able to crack them.
You are overwhelmed and frustrated, especially because you know you could do well if only there was someone to guide you and explain each aspect of the test clearly.
Imagine
Being confident in your
Leaving Cert results
Taking Spanish grinds with a native is a fantastic way to tackle both the exam and your fears about it.
It will help you:
◊
Understand how the areas of the exam work and what the examiners want you to do in each of them
◊
Manage your time and nerves successfully so you can give 100% on the day of the exam
◊
Feel prepared to sit the Spanish Leaving Cert being aware of your current level and the wonderful results you are able to achieve
◊
Be aware of the most difficult sections and how to deal with them
◊
Do real, useful Spanish practice that will make you confident in your oral and listening skills
But …
How?
First
Intention
Why are you doing this?
◊ What is it that you want to get from the Leaving Cert? Is it a specific degree you are pursuing? Is it good grades to keep your options open? Is it to move abroad and never touch a book again?
◊ Siting this exam is probably the hardest thing you faced so far, so before we do any studying we need to find what kind of fuel you require.
◊ We will look at your goals, your fears, and your motivations (when it comes to Spanish, the rest is for another kind of session) so we can use them to power your efforts and get you the best possible results.

Insight
Analysing the challenge
Looking at all the tasks in each section of the exam, which ones could potentially give you better results, and which ones you might want to avoid based on your level and confidence.
Studying the structure of the different areas and coming with strategies to deal with them

Deliberate Practice
Work smart
◊ Read the prescribed literature as well as journalistic texts, Spanish news and other literature to familiarise yourself with how Spanish is written
◊ Timed Practice of the Written Production pieces: Note/ Diary, Letter/ Dialogue and Opinion Piece. I know this is scary but it is a crucial part of the exam but if you are prepared you can score big points.
◊ Study the Oral Examination Role Plays and open questions. My classes are mostly in Spanish so you will have plenty of practice to feel comfortable using the language.
◊ Listen to past exams as well as do mock-ups to get used to different accents and listening for specific answers

Terms of Agreement
As we say in Spain, “Las cosas claras y el chocolate espeso.” Here are some simple rules to help everyone get along and know where we stand. Please read them carefully, as if you decide to go forward with your purchase, I will understand that you have read and agreed to them.
1. Payment policy
1.1. This is a monthly-based plan to be paid in advance.
1.2. Payment is due on the 1st of the month (Usually this means 4 lessons per month, but some have 5 or you might need to skip a class. We can adapt to most things as needs arise)
1.3. Preferred payment is through Revolut, but if you would rather use a bank transfer, simply let me know.
2. Class duration policy
Classes are 55 minutes and start at the agreed time.
3. Late arrival and cancellation policy
3.1. If a student is late for class, I have a notice period of 15 minutes for them to contact me and explain the situation. If there is no contact, I will have to mark the class as completed
3.2. If you wish to cancel the class, I have a cancellation policy of 24 h. After the grace period, the class will be considered “Done,” and you will lose it.
3.3. Time is precious to me, so I always do my best not to waste yours. However, in the rare scenario that I am late, I will make up for the delay at a time we both agree on.
3.4. If I need to cancel a lesson, fear not! You will not lose that class; we will simply reschedule.
4. Equipment requirements
4.1. The beauty of online learning is that you don’t need more than a stable internet connection, a working computer camera, a microphone, and whatever tools you prefer to take notes. But make sure to have them.
5. Recorded lessons
5.1. We will only record the lessons after we both agree to it, and these will be for academic purposes only and will not be used for commercial purposes.
